T20 World Cup: Five Emerging Players to watch

George Munsey - T20 World Cup Qualifier
(ICC Media Zone)

George Munsey, Scotland

Kyle Coetzer and Richie Berrington are two of the linchpins of Scottish cricket. Much is spoken of them, and rightly so.

However, George Munsey’s numbers are quite impressive, and he will undoubtedly have a key role to play in Scotland’s campaign. The left-hander is the only Scot with at least 110 runs to strike at over 150 in T20I cricket. Also, among Scottish batsmen with at least 700 runs, Munsey possesses the best average of nearly 30 (29.90, to be exact).

One of two Scotland players with a T20I century (alongside Berrington), Munsey also has the experience of playing in England domestic cricket, showing decent form for Kent in the Royal London One Day Cup in August.

As runs on the board will be vital in the pressure games of the group stage, Munsey is a player capable of taking the game away from the opposition. If he is on his game, the others can bat around him, and can put the Scots in a promising position.
