Dutch international Shane Snater has been signed by the Southern Rocks to play in Zimbabwe’s Logan Cup. Snater, who has recently signed a deal that will see him once again form part of English county side Essex during 2021, will be a part of a Rocks side making their return to the country’s first-class scene following Zimbabwe Cricket’s decision to cut the franchise six years ago.
The Zimbabwean-born all-rounder will be looking to add to his three first-class Class appearances during the tournament, however, his number already impress. Over the course of his three matches, Snater has claimed 12 wickets at 27.00 apiece with an economy rate of 3.53 along with scoring a maiden half-century and boasting a healthy batting average of 24.33.
However, it is in the Dutch T20 side where fans have become accustomed to watching his exciting brand of cricket. After making his debut in a match against Ireland at Rotterdam during 2018, the right arm quick has gone on to take 13 wickets in the same number of matches, with best figures of 3/42 coming against Scotland.
The Rocks have an impressive roster as alongside Snater there are a number of recognisable names such as Zimbabwean internationals Sikander Raza, Blessing Muzurambani, Cephas Zhuwao and Tendai Chisoro along with Northamptonshire contracted player Ben Curran and Alistair Frost who has previously played in Ireland.
Snater will be in line for his debut during the Rocks first match which is scheduled for December 15 at Old Hararians against the Matabeleland Tuskers.
