No Afridi or Yuvraj as Qatar T10 overseas player draft completed

Twenty Associate players from five nations were picked up in the draft

Qatar T10 League

The overseas player draft for the inaugural Qatar T10 League was completed on Tuesday morning in Doha. Twenty Associate players from five nations were selected across the six franchises.

The first ball is due to be delivered this Saturday.

After receiving registrations online each of the teams went through the process of selecting one ‘Icon’ player (US$20,000), three (Full member) Internationals ($15,000, $10,000, $5,000), and three Associates ($3,000 each). While the nomination form made team composition clear, a number of teams have different make-ups.

Shahid Afridi was announced as the event Ambassador back in July, but there was no sign of him at the event, nor in any of the squads. Likewise, despite there being some rumours that Yuvraj Singh would feature in the event, his name was also absent from the draft list.

Afridi has gone on to delete the post shared here by the league’s official page

Icon players – or at least first round picks – were Andrew Fletcher (WI), Luke Wright (Eng), Sohail Tanveer & Mohammad Sami (Pak), Hashim Amla (RSA), and Manpreet Singh Gony (India)
