Nepal’s Everest Premier League all set to make a return

Everest Premier League

After almost a year from the postponement of Nepal’s Everest Premier League (EPL T20), organisers have finally confirmed the date of its return. The tournament which was postponed due to the global outbreak of the COVID-19 last year, just before their commencement, will return to Kathmandu in the last week of September.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has granted the official sanctioning of the tournament and has endorsed the tournament to be conducted from September 25th – October 9th, 2021 in Kathmandu.

“I would firstly like to express my sincere thanks to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for sanctioning the 2021 Everest Premier League. The situation with the COVID pandemic is continuing to improve in Nepal, and we are delighted to be able to announce the return of the EPL”, Aamir Akhtar, the Founder and Managing Director of the EPL T20 said.

Adding further about the new announcements, he says, “This gives us more than six months to plan one of the biggest ever sporting events of Nepal, we have made some iconic associations with plenty more announcements coming that will give Nepali cricket fans tremendous excitement to look forward to”.

The league have acknowledged that the six months window was chosen to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, to let the number of infections ease, and for the vaccination to continue to take effect. The tournament takes place after the monsoon, with the pre-festivals season coming to Kathmandu.

The EPL T20 promises that the 15 day period for the tournament will bring the biggest festival of cricket ever seen in Nepal, just before their biggest festival Dashain. The league will likely see the big names that were promised to play pre-Covid.
