Jinnah Brescia complete rare quadruple

-

Jinnah Brescia completed a unique quadruple on Sunday when they won the Italian 50-over championship, beating Bergamo by three wickets.

The Brescia side thus made a clean sweep of men’s titles: they had won the Italian final of the European Cricket Series T10 tournament the previous day, having taken the Italian Cup and the T20 championship the week before.

They beat three different teams to claim their four championships. Fresh Tropical were their opponents in the Cup final and the T10 tournament, while the losing finalists in the T20 championship were Asian Latina.

Jaspreet Singh’s 67 not out was the highlight of Bergamo’s total of 247 for eight in the 50-over final, and Jinnah appeared to be in trouble after losing three early wickets.

But with Sharukh Nawaz making 42 and Hasnat Ahmed 53 in a substantial fourth-wicket stand the multiple champions were able to turn the game around, and they won with more than four overs to spare.
