A total of 9 players from associate nations have been included in the squads for the 2022 season of the Hundred, following Monday’s draft. Five players are in the men’s squads, with four in the Women’s squads.
Top of the billing is Tim David, who was retained by Southern Brave. Deputising for the injured Colin de Grandhomme in the 2021 playoffs, David produced a key moment in Southern Brave’s successful defence in the final, running out Liam Livingstone with a direct hit. Following his impressive results in the BBL and PSL, the Singaporean was retained by the Brave at £50,000.
Scotland’s Brad Wheal was also retained by his 2021 franchise, London Spirit. Wheal was a surprise star of Spirit’s 2021 campaign, producing a match-winning 3-fer on debut to give his team their first win. Having signed as an injury replacement for Mark Wood in 2021, Wheal was upgraded to a £30,000 deal for 2022.
Three Dutch players have made the squads for the 2022. All-rounder Colin Ackermann, and seam bowler Fred Klaasen both stay on at Manchester Originals following strong performances in 2021. Veteran all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe was released by London Spirit, but found a new home at the Leeds-based Northern Superchargers.
After holding contracts in 2021, Sandeep Lamichhane, Delray Rawlins, Timm van der Gugten and Brandon Glover did not secure contracts for 2022.
In the Women’s tournament, all four associate players from 2021 have remained on the circuit for 2022. Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce remains at Trent Rockets for a 2nd season. Despite an excellent season behind the stumps for the winning franchise, Sarah Bryce was released by the Oval Invincibles. Bryce moves to the Cardiff-based Welsh Fire, and replaces the retiring Sarah Taylor.
Scotland spinner Abtaha Maqsood remains at Birmingham Phoenix after an impressive 2021 season. She is joined by Dutch all-rounder Sterre Kalis, who transfers from Northern Diamonds after only playing one game in 2021. On top of their Hundred deals, Maqsood and Kalis also secured full-time contracts in England’s domestic squads.
