Singapore: SCA announces new T10 tournament in partnership with LPL agency

Isaac Lockett reports on the announcement of the Singapore T10 Tournament.

The Singapore Cricket Association has announced the hosting of a T10 tournament and that the Innovative Production Group FZE (IPG) Group has been awarded exclusive rights for the tournament. 

The Singapore T10 tournament is expected to be hosted sometime during the third quarter of 2021, however exact dates are yet to be confirmed. The tournament sees the country’s premier male and female talent competing alongside each other while it is expected that there will also be ‘marquee players from Test-playing nations such as India, Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Bangladesh, West Indies and Associate nations’ will be participating. IPG has been chosen to organise and market the tournament, with the group most recently being involved with the recently concluded Lanka Premier League.

When talking about the announcements, Mahmood Gaznavi, Hon. President of Singapore Cricket Association stated that ‘T10 is a great new dimension of cricket that represents the vastness of the audience. We have shown in the past that Singapore is the ideal host for this great sport with history of hosting India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh …  We believe that Singapore is the ideal destination to bridge cultures through cricket. Singapore Cricket Association is ready to celebrate this great sport and looks forward to bringing our vision to life with The IPG Group’. 

Saad Khan Janjua, the CEO of the Singapore Cricket Association, tweeted ‘SCA is proud to bring the world T10 Cricket League in Singapore with a new essence. We have envisioned a tournament with the IPG Group, that encapsulates the spirit of cricket as we introduce the first-ever men’s and women’s team format … We at the SCA passionately believe, achieving transition in alignment with modern trends to transform cricket to “CRICKETAINMENT” and information to “INFOTAINMENT’. 

Anil Mohan, CEO of the IPG Group stated that ‘We at IPG are excited with this opportunity and we are confident of making SCA T10 one of the premier sporting leagues in the world. We thank SCA and the leadership team for giving us this opportunity’. The sentiment of positivity was also supported by the managing director of the IPG Group, Jawad Ghulam Rasool who added ‘The IPG Group will work closely with SCA and will always thrive to add value to the existing cricketing eco system in Singapore’.
