Under a freshly-inked partnership with streaming behemoth FanCode, the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) will see 500 of its matches broadcast across the digital platform into the subcontinent over the next two years, it was announced on Friday.
FanCode, part of the Dream Sports / Dream11 group, has acquired exclusive rights to live-stream Malaysia’s cricket matches to its reported 15 million subscribers throughout India, and these rights will span through 2021 and 2022. The platform will also carry the action to the sub-continent on a non-exclusive basis. No details regarding the value of the deal have been released.
The MCA’s in-house production team will be shadowed by students from the neighbouring universities which will provide students ‘opportunities to further master the art of the industry with first-hand on the job experiences’.
MCA President, and ICC Associate Director Mr. Mahinda Vallipuram said, ‘I believe that this partnership will open doors to greater involvement with corporate bodies and tourism agencies.’ This, he said, ‘is largely owing to the fact that there is now a platform for us to become partners with a return of investment through targeted marketing programmes both nationally and internationally, keeping in mind that cricket is the second most watched sport in the world, with a reach of more than two billion people.’

Foreseeing positive developments with the reach of the COVID-19 vaccines, Malaysia Cricket is optimistic that the T10 Bash scheduled to be held from 26-28 March 2021, as well as the previously halted T20 Super Series, scheduled to be continued from 30-31 March 2021, can be played, pending approval from the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Malaysia.
An MCA representative told Emerging Cricket that the association is also close to finalising deals for streaming into Europe and the Americas.
