Austria added to European Cricket League for 2022

The Austria Cricket Association has become the latest board to join the European Cricket League, signing a long term partnership to bring the domestic champion to the tournament from 2022.

Speaking of the announcement ECL founder Dan Weston said Austria has the platform for an incredible cricketing growth story in the years to come. Muhammad Ashfaq and his community of cricket lovers, players and administrators in Austria have been busy expanding the club base and number of playing fields in recent years”

“I hope that the incentive of the Champion Club in Austria now being invited to the ECL in the future will provide a huge boost to the participation and hunger for more cricket to be played across the country.”

Chairman of Austrian Cricket Association, Muhammad Ashfaq, said: “The Austria Cricket Association is delighted to enter a partnership with the ECL which promises to considerably enhance the ongoing development process of cricket in Austria.

“This agreement will increase opportunities for clubs, players and umpires across the country, and further boost the quality and awareness of Austria cricket. We very much look forward to working alongside the ECL family.”

Austria become the 22nd nation to join the European Cricket League, and follows closely after the announcement that the ECL would grow to 30 teams from 29 nations in 2022.
