Brazil all-rounder Laura Cardoso has broken the World Record for the best individual bowling figures in a women’s T20I, taking 9/4 from just three overs in her side’s 189-run win over Lesotho at the BCA Kalahari Women’s Tournament in Botswana.
After three uneventful balls to begin her spell, Cardoso claimed a hat-trick in balls four, five and six, though turned it into five in five with wickets in the first two balls in the next over.
Cardoso only had to wait one ball for a sixth scalp, and finished off her second over with another, at one point boasting figures of 7/0 (2).

Her eighth and ninth wickets came in the third over, though was denied a chance at the perfect ten with Marianne Artur claiming the wicket of Lindiwi Polaki at the other end in the seventh over of the innings.
Three of the the four runs Cardoso leaked in the innings were wides, with a single off the bat of Polaki the only run conceded off the bat.
The effort beats out the effort of Indonesia’s Rohmalia Rohmalia, who claimed 7/0(3.2) against Mongolia in Bali back in 2024.
Earlier, Brazil had posted 202/8 in their 20 overs, with Monnike Machado making 69 not out from 41 balls and Roberta Moretti Avery making 48 from 35 balls.
