The European Cricket Network (ECN) and the Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB) have announced the European Cricket Series Kummerfeld beginning this Monday, June 29 in Kummerfeld, Germany.
The series will see six teams from Northern Germany compete in a T10 tournament across five days with several German internationals featuring in the competition.
European Cricket Network founder Daniel Weston, a representative of the German national team spoke about the league having a special connection to him.
“Kummerfeld is a special place with special people. Here in November 2016 I decided to live stream the KSV Indoor Final for German Cricket TV on Facebook,”
“I had my phone on a tripod while I was hanging outside the door in the freezing cold air so as to not get in the way of the fielders to ensure a good 3G connection,” Weston said.
The six teams will be highlighted by European Cricket League 2019 runners up SG Findorff and hosts Kummerfelder Sportverein as well as MTV Stallions, Polizeisportverein Hann. Münden, SC Europa and VFB Fallersleben.
“Since Kummerfeld was the first place I ever live-streamed cricket from, I am extremely excited to make Kummerfeld the first location in Germany that we ever live broadcast a Dream11 European Cricket Series event from. ” Weston said.
CEO of the Deutscher Cricket Bund Brian Mantle spoke optimistically of the European Cricket Network’s ongoing partnership with the DCB.
“We are grateful to the European Cricket Network for their continued support. This is the first of many Dream11 European Cricket Series in Germany over the coming months,”
“We have a plethora of talent in Northern Germany. It is incredibly attractive and a great incentive for these players to showcase their skills to large global audiences,” said Mantle.
Every game will be live streamed worldwide on the European Cricket Network starting from the first match on Monday.
