In case you missed it on our podcast, we caught up with PNG all-rounder Norman Vanua in part one of a two part special. In a raw and honest chat, Vanua discusses PNG’s relationship with cricket, the highs of qualifying for a World Cup and the joy of the ‘Barramundi Miracle’, but also the lows of the game and coming back from defeat.
Hailing from the Hanuabada village where there has been a lineage of internationally reknowned sportspeople, Vanua provides an open account of his upbringing, pathway to the national team, and the rollercoaster ride of international cricket. From soul-searching after the disappointment of the 2018 World Cup Qualifier to squeezing into the top four at World Cricket League 2 in 2019 on net run rate, Norman has experienced nearly every emotion there is in Associate cricket.
With the men’s T20 World Cup still at this stage going ahead, Norman also outlines his team’s plan for their Australian assault, and explains how special it is for the Barras to play in a mate’s backyard of Australia.
As well as our chat with Norman, we also catch up with news from several pockets around the world where cricket operations have resumed. Vanuatu continue to map out some more domestic action for everyone around the world to watch, plus we discuss the postponement of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, the Everest Premier League and much, much more!
