Tony Ura, Papua New Guinea
The heart and soul of Papua New Guinean cricket. The world will get to watch Tony Pala Ura in action; the man who has played the key role in getting his nation onto such a grand stage. Indeed, what a moment it will be when he takes guard in their opener against Scotland.
There is no doubt that PNG will be a different proposition if Ura is at his classy best. The right-hander is not only PNG’s all-time T20I run-scorer with 671, but has a fine average and strike rate of 37.27 and 140.96 to boot.
He produced solid numbers in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in the UAE in 2019, with 194 runs in eight matches. With every game counting for plenty in this group stage, Ura’s contributions will prove vital to PNG’s hopes.
