EC World Cup of Jerseys QF2: Germany v Jersey

By Tom Grunshaw and Daniel Beswick

Quarter-final two time!

Nepal faced some stiff competition from a brave Bermuda who won on the Twitter vote, though the strength across Facebook was enough for the favourites to progress.

In today’s second quarter-final, it’s a Europe region affair between Jersey and Germany to lock up a semi-final spot.

Here is the tournament bracket, as we crunch eight into four!

In the other matches of the knockout rounds Scotland fought bravely against a giant in the kit World Cup, though it was the heavy public strength of Nepal that edged things. Bermuda were also too strong for the Dutch 1996 World Cup kit, with Germany too strong for St. Helena. Jersey and Uganda both garnered great support throughout the 24 hours with the two highest votes of the the competition thus far, though it was Channel Islanders who pushed away late in their matchup. Vanuatu, making the most of their recent public support, brushed Tanzania aside, with the Netherlands, Namibia and Japan locking up the final spots.

The second quarter-final is upon us! Let’s take a look at both kits!

Jersey v Germany

Imagine the scenes when Jersey take home the World Cup of Jerseys! They may need a boost of votes from those outside the largest Channel Islands, but their mix of dark reds and blues brings a new flavour to the competition. A nice touch is the cross, or saltire of the Jersey flag on the back of the shirt, in a mix of other patterns on the shirt.

Sticking to the colours of their national flag, Germany’s cricket team aren’t able to flaunt a white kit in limited-overs cricket for obvious reasons. Instead, a smart black and red has been put together, topped off by a yellow trim.
