Sterre Kalis signed by Superchargers

Dutch batting young gun Sterre Kalis will take part in the Hundred, signing on with the Northern Superchargers for the inaugural tournament.

The 21-year-old was one of a number of signings announced in an ECB press release today, as the eight teams make their final touches before the first match on July 21.

Kalis is considered a domestic player and joins fellow newcomer Kalea Moore of Kent, as well as overseas additions Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) and Laura Kimmince (Australia) for the Superchargers.

A standout in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, Kalis has led the charge for the Northern Diamonds, averaging a tick under 40 with the bat across the 2020 and 2021 seasons. At T20 International level, Kalis has struck at roughly a run a ball for the Netherlands, making two fifties, as well as a century against Germany in 2019.

Kalis also top-scored for the Diamonds in their first T20 match of the summer, making 32 in the new Charlotte Edwards Cup against the Thunder, hitting five boundaries at Headingley.

The Superchargers begin their campaign on July 24 when they take on the Welsh Fire.
