Netherlands add New Zealand T20Is to summer schedule

The Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB) have announced a home series against New Zealand to be play in August. The series will feature two T20Is on the 4th and the 6th of August, with both matches played at Voorburg CC, The Hague.

This series comes as a reciprocal event to the Netherlands’ current tour of New Zealand, in which they play one T20I and three ODIs as part of the CWC Super League. New Zealand were previously due to visit the Netherlands for a one-off T20I in June 2020. However, the series was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the Dutch, the visit from the T20 World Cup finalists becomes the 3rd scheduled visit from a full member this summer. West Indies and England will play in Amsterdam in June as part of the CWC Super League. The Dutch will also travel to Zimbabwe in July for the T20 World Cup Qualifier. Their final CWC Super League home series, against Pakistan, is provisionally scheduled for later in the year.

In a joint statement between the two boards, Netherlands head coach Ryan Campbell said:

“The chance to play the best white ball teams in the world has always been the goal for this team. To test our young players against them, as well as showcasing our skills in front of our home fans is so extremely exciting.

“The Blackcaps coming to The Netherlands again shows the respect we are building in world cricket and I hope all Dutch fans come out and enjoy the contest.”

For the visitors, the trip to Holland will wrap up a 9-week long European tour, in which they will visit all four of Europe’s top nations. The tour begins in England in June, before visiting Ireland, Scotland and then finally the Netherlands.
