Scotland all-rounder Kathryn Bryce has capped off a strong run in international cricket, receiving the ICC Player of the Month award for May.
Bryce led the way for Scotland in their T20I series against Ireland, despite going down 3-1. Scoring 96 runs in testing situations, Bryce backed up with five wickets at an economy of just 4.76, edging Irish players Gaby Lewis and Leah Paul for the award.
Bryce was also the first Associate woman to be nominated for the accolade, first awarded in January. Bryce joins former Scotland international Leigh Kasperek, now representing New Zealand, who lost out to Alyssa Healy in April.
It’s been a whirlwind month for Bryce, who also became the first Scot, man or woman, to enter the top 10 of both the batting and bowling ICC Player Rankings off the back of the series.
Bryce was accompanied by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who claimed the Men’s accolade after playing a key role in both red and white ball for his country, highlighted by a knock of 125 in their second ODI against Sri Lanka.
The Player of the Month is adjudged by both fans on the ICC Website (10%) and a rolling list from the ICC Voting Academy (90%), which comprises of former players, journalists, broadcasters and the ICC Hall of Fame.
