Everest Premier League sign DSport as their global broadcast partner

Nepal’s flagship T20 competition, the Everest Premier League, has penned a deal with DSport to partner as the official global broadcast partner.

Key figures of both parties announced the deal at a ceremony today at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu earlier today. A channel within Discovery Asia-Pacific, DSport will commit to the game in Nepal by providing a state-of-the-art quality of production, at a level unseen in Nepali sport.

Tournament organisers expressed their gratitude for the partnership during today’s signing.

“This will be the first time that a domestic sporting event in Nepal will have an international broadcaster as their partner.

“With this partnership, EPL will have an international broadcast quality along with an audience outside the Nepali cricket diaspora making the EPL the first and the only global T20 league from Nepal.”

India’s DSport is no stranger to broadcasting cricket, providing coverage for the Pakistan Super League, the Bangladesh Premier League and the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, a tri-series between India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Over a dozen HD cameras with 40x zoom lenses will be available for the tournament, beginning at the end of February next year. Not only will viewers be treated to world-class television and production, it means run outs will now be able to be taken upstairs to a third umpire for close calls. A new graphics package with computerised scoring will accompany the broadcast, produced in English to cater for a global audience.

Founder of the Everest Premier League, Aamir Akhtar, expressed his delight with the deal.

“With the reach of an International Broadcaster like DSport, we can promote EPL globally and in turn, promote Nepali cricket as well.

“With the experience and proficiency of the DSport team, we can expect an international standard, glitch-free, easily accessible, and properly marketed and dispersed content at your TV screens.”

Last month, tournament organisers promised a higher standard on the field also, with new rules mandating franchises to sign an ‘Iconic’ player. This player must be from a Test playing nation, which intends to raise the level of play across the competition.

The Lalitpur Patriots aim to defend their 2018 crown, with the two-week tournament reaching its climax on March 14.
