EC World Cup of Jerseys: Group A

By Tom Grunshaw and Daniel Beswick

We’re under way in our World Cup of Jerseys, with Group A action the first cab off the rank.

Note: Jerseys are the current kits used by both men’s and women’s teams unless stated.

Tanzania

One of the last national teams to play before coronavirus took over the world, Tanzania demand attention with their blend of green, black, yellow and blue – the colours of their national flag adopted after Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to form the country in 1964.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, the blue symbolises the Indian Ocean, the black symbolises the majority population, with agricultural resources and mineral wealth symbolised by the green and yellow respectively.

China (Women)

Rob Harvey on the Emerging Cricket Forum puts forward the Chinese Women’s kit, with a gradual blend of yellow on the red that makes up the national flag. On top of that, there’s innovation with the additional long sleeve baselayer shirt sporting stars.

Oman

Upgrading from a plain red shirt in past iterations, the Oman shirt is now a little more intricate, and a lot more eye catching. White trim and flashes of green on the shoulders brings depth to the shirt, and the green and white flames across the front almost appear to have given their seam bowlers extra pace.

Nepal

Nepal (ICC)

Evolving from their smart dark blue and red combination in the mid-2010s, the current Nepal kit has gone unchanged for a couple of years now. Honestly, with something this good, why change something that isn’t broken?

A mix of red with a lighter blue than used in the past, Nepali peaks are thrown into the mix, and all the cliches about Nepal reaching for the summit Everest in their national sport don’t do it justice.

EC World Cup of Jerseys Format and How to Vote

This is group A in our World Cup, with two advancing from each group to the round of 16, where kits will then go head-to-head to crown a winner. Kits from the same nation must be drawn together and polls will be done via Twitter and Facebook.

Make sure you are a member of our Facebook Group and follow our Twitter pages to maximise your voting power when we post out the polls!
