14:12 – Three sixes and a four in the over for Patel and the USA off Siaka, and the US pair finish things off against Ravu at the other end. USA are home here and win by 10 wickets. Net run rate boosted massively with that performance as they pass the total within 20 overs! But! There is still plenty of action to be had in the other games of the tournament with Tim Cutler and Nick Skinner covering action at the other two grounds. From me, it’s goodbye from Affies, though I’ll head over to Wanderers and catch up with the game there.

14:10 – PATEL TWO SIXES! PATEL OVER LONG OFF AND THEN OVER THE FENCE WIDE OF LONG OFF. Proving to be such an excellent player of spin. Langton Rusere bringing out another ball.

14:06 – SIX! Marshall puts Ravu onto the hill and stands on the far side of the ground. Ravu checking the ball’s shape with the umpire. That takes the team over a hundred and Marshall passes fifty.

14:05 – Both openers in the 40s for USA. Marshall and Patel have looked in close to complete control. Doriga behind the stumps trying to raise the troops.

14:00 – USA set to race through the tape here as Monank dives over mid-off. Fielder now dropped back. 93/0 in the 17th over.

13:58 – Patel this time with a brilliant pull off Soper. Patel with some running repairs with a new bat needed. PNG with a meeting of the minds as the 12th man comes out with a new blade. Soper just losing his length a touch.

13:55 – Marshall hooks Amini this time for six! A little short and pulled into cow corner. USA racing now as they now pass 70 for no loss.

13:52 – Soper overpitches and Monank latches on to the chance with a great off drive. USA perhaps with an eye on net run rate.

13:50 – SIX! Marshall over mid off for six. Amini a fraction too full and the ex-West Indian star took him the distance.

13:49 – For all their issues with the bat, PNG have stayed up in the field, with a couple of excellent stops to dry up the runs early after lunch.

13:45 – Players and umpires back out with play to continue after lunch. CJ Amini also continuing with the USA needing 79 from 40 overs.

13:00 – Lunch! Soper finishes his tight over as Patel and Marshall see out the threat of a wicket on the stroke of lunch. PNG remain upbeat as they walk off the ground.

12:58 – Amini races through his over and we will have yet another over. Soper back on with Doriga up to the stumps.

12:56 – USA blunt the attack of Soper to remain no wickets down as we head to lunch. PNG will be able to squeeze another over in.

12:55 – Lunch break five minutes away and a change coming with Chad Soper brought into the attack.

12:50 – Runs flowing now for the USA with both cashing in on runs.

12:40 – FOUR! Monank Patel in on the act with a glorious cover drive to beat the diving fielder. USA looking more than comfortable.

12:33 – Marshall drives for four! Gorgeous on-drive down the ground to beat mid-on. Follows up with a cover drive on the up, though doesn’t middle it as it trickles for a single.

12:30 – Ravu on from the commentary box end. PNG starting tight with the ball.

12:26 – Half a chance in the field for Lega Siaka who can’t hit from mid wicket.

12:24 – Cleaned up! Gore claims Ravu to finish with 4/23 from his 7.3 overs. USA to bat until 13:00 local before the break. PNG 127 all out

12:10 – A rough bounce undoes Ali Khan in the deep for another boundary, this time for Ravu down the ground. PNG 122/9 (39)

12:03 – Doriga sweeps Tim Patel beautifully through mid wicket for four, only to be dismissed next ball! Nine down now and in a world of trouble. 113/9 (37th)

12:00 – Crucial boundary by Pokana off Ali Khan flicking through square leg. PNG 115/8 (36th)

11:50 – Patel thought he had another one there, this time turned down by the umpire. Patel coming on becomes a good decision with the 8th wicket for the Americans falling.

11:47 – Timil Patel bounces back after a nervous start to his day. Vanua given out caught behind though Vanua perhaps expressing his disappointment with the decision. Everything going wrong for PNG now as drinks come on to the ground. 100/8 (32.5)

11:43 – Four runs! Doriga with a blistering drive past Netravalkar at mid off. Crucial runs churned out. 98/7

11:40 – Dropped! A third goes down for USA, they theoretically could have had PNG tied up and in the sheds already. Silva the man dropping the chance for Ali Khan’s 4th. PNG 94/7 (31)

11:35 – Ali Khan back on for the USA, looking to clean up the tail and an outside chance for a six-wicket haul.

11:30 – Almost unable to keep up with the wickets tumbling here, but the five LBWs is no typo. USA attacking the pegs and to great effect.

11:28 – ANOTHER LBW! Kila goes for the sweep to a ball full and straight. PNG 7 down now for just 79.

11:24 – Gore has another LBW! His second and the USA’s 4th! Angling in around the stumps and trapping Siaka. Siaka departs for 32.

11:25 – Siaka misses a full toss freebie from Gore but scurries through for a couple.

11:20 – A few telling moments for PNG. Just when it looked like they had finally found a partnership, Chad Soper was adjudged LBW off the bowling of Karima Gore, with Soper gesticulating to the umpire that he did in fact get an outside edge. PNG now 69/5 in the 27th over.

10:56 – PNG grinding with Chad Soper playing multiple drives off Steven Taylor. Siaka joining in with a cut for four off Silva. USA 55/4

10:48 – Men around the bat for USA with PNG on the ropes at 45/4 after 18 overs. Ring field now for Silva.

10:14 – Dropped! Ali Khan unlucky not to have four wickets in the first phase of play this morning. Siaka flashing on the cut, with the top edged chance unable to be held on to.

10:07 – ALI KHAN YOU SUPERSTAR! He has a third! Assad Vala caught on the crease and given LBW with yet another easy decision for the umpire. PNG in an early hole at 19/3.

10:00 – OUT! Alex Dowdalls with an easy decision with Bau trapped in front with the last ball of Ali Khan’s fourth over! 11 wickets already in the tournament. PNG 18/2

9:55 – I’ve just met young Charlie who has been allowed to take the day off school to watch international cricket. Meanwhile on the ground Ali Khan denied an LBW around the wicket against Vala.

9:54 – Sese Bau finally off the mark with his 19th delivery today. 11/1 (6th).

9:50 – Karima Gore with a direct hit though Assad Vala is quick between the wickets to scamper through for one.

9:40 – After a quiet couple of overs, the Ura and Ali Khan matchup kickstarts the match. Ura pulls Ali Khan for six with a gorgeous pull shot, though falls to the quick with a great reply three balls later. Steven Taylor with a great low catch at second slip.

9:30 – Players and umpires out onto the ground and we are ready to go for match eight of WCL2.
