Tajikistan T10

Tajikistan Premier League postponed until September

The BetBarter Tajikistan Premier League (TPL) T10 which was scheduled to start on the 29 July 2020 has been postponed until September.

Excitement had been building for the start of the tournament since it was announced. The tournament promised to provide an insight into the cricket talents of the country, but fans and onlookers will now have to wait a little bit longer for the tournament. Unfortunately, there are limits travels still in place in Tajikistan and appears to have created issues for the league. With the ongoing pandemic creating issues for the population of Tajikistan, safety must be prioritised meaning that cricket for the moment is placed on the backburner.

To recap, when the competition does start there will be six teams competing for the title. The teams competing in the tournament are the Wahdat Supergiant, the Khijjand Challenger, the Kulob Knightriders, the Khalton Royals, the Norak Warriors and the Dushanbe Kings.

There has not been any announcement to suggest that the format of the tournament has changed and therefore, it is still expected that when the tournament does start that there will still be 30 games taking place. Each team is set to place each other twice during the group stage, with the top four sides make it to the finals.

Hopefully, the situation eases in Tajikistan meaning that the tournament will be able to get underway in September; but ensuring the players’ safety must come first. Despite the TPL’s postponement, when the league does get underway it certainly promises to be an exciting one filled with the unknown.
