USA to host 2022 home Cricket World Cup League Two series at Moosa Stadium

International Cricket will debut in Texas when USA Cricket host a pair of Cricket World Cup League Two trilaterals starting on May 28.

The first series, from May 28 through June 4, features USA, UAE and Scotland, and the second series, from June 8 through June 15, features USA, Oman and Nepal.

2022 will be a busy and important year for the USA Cricket Men’s ODI team, with five CWCL2 ODI series, including a tour of Scotland in August, and tours of Namibia and Papua New Guinea with dates yet to be determined.

USA currently sit in fifth place in the CWCL2 table, out of seven teams, with seven wins and nine losses, and need to convert both home series into bunches of wins. With only Nepal (6th) behind USA in the table, and Oman, Scotland, and UAE respectively occupying the top three positions, the home team face a tall task ahead in their home stand.

“It is fantastic to see the ODI format return for the USA Men’s National Team on home soil, with these two series being hugely significant for our continued aim of taking a top 3 place in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2,” USA Cricket Operations Director, Richard Done was quoted in USA Cricket’s announcement

“Logistically, the greater Houston area in Texas made the most sense for a number of reasons for these matches and we are strongly looking forward to hosting 4 very fine international sides here in the Lone Star State. Our sincere thanks must go to Sakhi Mohammad, Tanweer Ahmed and their teams for the immense support to USA Cricket to organize these ODIs. After what has been such a difficult two years or so for Associate cricket due to the pandemic, we are hugely looking forward to hosting Nepal, Oman, Scotland, and the UAE for two brilliant series of cricket on American soil.”

The pair of trilaterals make Moosa Stadium the second ODI ground in the United States, after Lauderhill, Florida, and ahead of strong candidates Prairie View Cricket Complex, in Prairie View, Texas, and Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina.

The Pearland, Texas venue, the first natural turf cricket facility in the state of Texas, has seen renovations in recent years that have made it one of the top grounds in the country. Home of Minor League Cricket’s Lone Star Athletics, Moosa Stadium featured one of most impressive streaming presentations in the league in 2021, thanks to recent upgrades to broadcasting infrastructure, and has a reputation for being a high scoring ground in recent years.

Prairie View Cricket Complex, located north of Houston, will also serve to help prepare teams by hosting practices and warm-up games leading up to the CWCL2.
