T10 excitement continues in Fiji

Following the success of the Fiji T10 BulaBash, a second T10 league has commenced in Moce Island, Lau. There are eight teams taking part in the Cricket Fiji Vakataukata T10 Tournament with three from Moce, two teams from Namuka and one each from Kabara, Oneata and Komo.

All the teams are being hosted in Moce according to Cricket Fiji CEO Alex Konrote and it promises to be another exciting example of the T10 format. Players will be once again be given the opportunity to make a name for themselves over the course of the competition which could lead to higher honours. During the Bulabash competition, Alex Konrote stated that Cricket Fiji was going to use T10 BulaBash League as a further guide to aid national selection. Whilst the same comment has not been made about the Cricket Fiji Vakataukata T10 Tournament means that there is an added importance to the tournament.

Time will tell if Cricket Fiji will see the benefit of using a T10 league for national selection. As the Association continues to organise these tournaments and bring the excitement of T10 to different communities throughout the country’s islands, despite the global situation, it may just be an example for other nations to follow.
