TMdone, an Oman-based company specialising in delivery services will sponsor the Oman women’s cricket team for the next two years. The deal is worth a reported RO 30,000 (approximately US$77,925).
Pankaj Khimji, a representative of Oman Cricket’s Board of Directors said ‘we are extremely pleased to have received such wonderful support from TMdone. Improvement in cricket is all about playing more matches and more tournaments. This sponsorship will lead to our girls getting more exposure at the international level and gain more experience which will give them the confidence to perform better’.
TMdone’s CEO, Yasser al Barami and TMDone’s Managing Director, Asma al Maraghi, both expressed their satisfaction with the sponsorship deal.
‘We at TMdone decided to support the women’s team, as it goes with our values of making a change in our society and local sports. It will be our desire to see Oman women’s cricket team to reach a higher level much like Oman men’s team which ranks among the ICC’s top 20 in ODI and T20 internationals.’
Al Maraghi also said that ‘Oman has a very young and talented girls team and that is what companies who want to contribute ask for. In Oman, women and sport is still something new and creative which meets the values of our company.’
Oman’s women’s captain Vaishali Jesrani expressed her delight at the news of the sponsorship.
‘TMdone sponsorship has come at a very important time for us. The girls are really happy and charged up to perform better’.
Oman’s women’s team have recently been in impressive form, seeing them climb to 30th in the ICC women’s T20 rankings. Oman’s cricket fans will following the impact of the deal on the team’s performances and on future women’s cricket development in the country.
