Nepal: CAN postpones AGM, Lamichhane donates funds to staff of TU Ground

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has deferred its Annual General Meeting until further notice. Earlier, the executive gathering of CAN had scheduled its annual meet for the fourteenth and fifteenth of October but two of their officials tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from their board meeting.

The CAN President has re-tested positive for COVID-19 while General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal is currently in isolation in a Kathmandu hospital. Some reports suggested that the general secretary was shifted to general isolation from the ICU yesterday.

Lamichhane’s generous gesture

Any potential frustration at not yet seeing any game time in this IPL for Delhi Capitals certainly hasn’t dampened Sandeep Lamichhane charitable spirit, with the legspinner donating NRs 1 lakh (~US$857) to the ground staff of Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Stadium.

‘Whatever I am today is because of the people of Nepal. I am indebted to those millions of hands that have selflessly continued to pray for me. This is just a small effort to do my bit. May my homeland and the people of Nepal continue to rise for good’, he said as he retweeted a post from Raman Shiwakoti who handed over the amount on Lamichhane’s behalf.

Lamichhane’s actions follow through on a promise made prior to setting off for the CPL.
