KNCB names interim CEO

The KNCB has announced the appointment of Richard de Winter as interim CEO, with effect from 2 January 2022.

Mr de Winter’s part-time role will continue until such time as the Board has appointed a new permanent CEO. He fills the vacancy created by the termination of the contract of former CEO Milena van Not, which led to a major crisis in the KNCB’s governance.

In a brief statement the Board states that it ‘has confidence that Richard, in view of his knowledge and experience, is the right person to fill adequately the directorial role for the coming period.’

Mr de Winter, who owns a company called Crystallus Management BV, is an alumnus of the Royal Military Academy in Breda and of the Nyenrode Business University, and has served as interim manager of multiple organisations.

He states on his LinkedIn page that the common theme of his recent work has been ‘strategic organisational development and (crisis) management of complex political and governance processes.’

His skills include, he continues, ‘the management of tough and politically sensitive change and reorganisation processes.’

He is likely to need all his diplomatic and managerial skills if he is to bring the KNCB through the troubled waters into which it has navigated itself.
