The KNCB has announced the appointment of the 56-year-old CEO of the Royal Dutch Rowing Union, Monica Visser, as its new CEO, in succession to interim chief Richard de Winter.
Visser, who will take up her new role in mid-July, has led the Rowing Union for nine years, during which its numbers have grown by a third to around 40,000.
She was previously in charge of the provincial sports organisation in Flevoland, the Netherlands’ newest province, reclaimed from the Ijsselmeer.
She will take over a governing body which has been through a period of internal upheaval in recent months, but which now has a new Board, chaired by top public servant Guido Landheer.
Her task will be to advance Dutch cricket along the two trajectories to which the new Board has committed itself, growing the game from its present level of around 5000 participants, and further improvement on the high performance side.

Announcing the appointment, Landheer said that ‘Monica is a leader with a clear vision who, in cooperation with the clubs, wants to realise the necessary innovation which will raise cricket to a higher plane in the Netherlands.
‘With her competences and experience, she is the right person for the job.’
Ms. Visser is a strong advocate of a strong relationship between the KNCB and its member-clubs, which she describes as ‘the cornerstone of success in any sport’.
‘I’m very excited to start this journey,’ she said on Wednesday, ‘and to make sure, with the help of the new Board and the KNCB staff, of making a difference.
‘Cricket is a multicultural sport with many special and old traditions and much potential. Under the motto ‘Learn, perform and have fun’ I look forward to building on relationships and, together with all the clubs, enabling the sport to flourish.’
