Having beaten Rathbones on the opening day of Jersey’s 40-over Premier League, Farmers Caesareans got off to a record-breaking start to their second match of the competition on Saturday, Nick Ferraby and Asa Tribe sharing an opening stand of 320 against the Walkovers at Grainville.
Ferraby eventually fell to Kareem Caddle on 116, but Tribe went on to make 186, from just 137 deliveries with 24 fours and five sixes, and the Caesareans finished with 355 for two.
That was always going to be beyond the Walkovers, but they belied their name with a solid response, reaching 213 for eight before they ran out of overs; Toby Britton’s three for 22 from eight overs helped keep the scoring within reasonable bounds.
At Les Quennevais St Ouen Springfield kept pace with the defending champions with an 80-run victory over Old Victorians, largely thanks to an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 102 between Dominic Blampied, who finished with 88 not out, and Jonathan Best (43).
Then Blampied and Best were among four St Ouen bowlers who claimed two wickets apiece as the Old Victorians were bowled out for 123.
There were mixed fortunes in the Elite Division in Denmark, where promoted side Glostrup beat Herning on Saturday, only to crash to defeat against KB the following day, while Herning lost again on Sunday, this time to Soraner.
The hero of Glostrup’s defeat of Herning was veteran international Fred Klokker, whose unbeaten 54 guided his side to their three-wicket victory after they had dismissed their opponents for 135; Herning’s Patrick Matautaava was unable to help his side with the bat this time, going for a first-ball duck, although his three for 17 from ten overs kept them in the game.
He did make 46 against Soraner as Herning posted 187, but Romaq Tanija’s 52 saw Soraner home by four wickets with almost five overs to spare.
Glostrup, meanwhile, collapsed to 77 all out chasing KB’s 322 for eight, the latter built on an opening stand of 135 between Zameer Khan (71) and Lucky Malik (65) and a seventh-wicket partnership of 76 between Amjad Khan (53) and Brian Chari (60 not out).
Amjad then took three for 11 and Malik three for 35, while Bashir Shah cleaned up the tail with four for 3.
The game between Skanderborg and Svanholm saw a fine double from Anders Bülow, who made 33 in his side’s total of 121, Shangeev Thanikaithasan top-scoring with 52, and then took three for 13 as Svanholm crashed to 49 all out.
All the weekend’s action in Germany’s Bundesliga was in Group 1, where leaders Kummerfelder SV had a comfortable seven-wicket victory over SG Findorff: Ahmed Musaddiq took three for 35 as Findorff made 157 for nine, and then smacked a 15-ball 35, but it was Rohit Singh’s 57 from 25 deliveries with six sixes which enabled his side to race to the win in just 12.3 overs.

A double-header on Saturday saw Prague Bohemians win their first game, against Vinohrady, by eight wickets, Sabawoon Davizi hitting an unbeaten 54-ball 66 as they chased down Vinohrady’s 137 for six in 16.4 overs, but they lost the second to Prague CC by four wickets, due in large part to Sharan Ramakrishnan’s double of three for 26 and 49.
Highlights of the Liga Catalana in Spain were Lakhbir Brar’s seven for 20 which enabled Viledecans Tigers to skittle Farners for 72 and win by five wickets, and Karan Datta’s 76-ball 110 out of a total of 188 for Raval Sporting against Men in Blue.
