Denmark to host Germany and Finland in T20I tri-series

Denmark will host Germany and Finland in a T20I tri-series from the 25th to the 28th of August. The fixtures represent the first international cricket for all three nations since the Coronavirus pandemic caused widespread lockdown in Europe.

The series was announced in a press release by the Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB). The teams will meet for a 6-match series in Copenhagen, as well as warm-up fixtures.

In the statement, DCB CEO Brian Mantle said “After Corona, it is a great opportunity for our national team to get back into the game. We look forward to exciting games against excellent opponents!”

Germany, ranked 33rd on the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings, last played in a 2-match series against Spain in March. Denmark (29th) and Finland (65th) will be playing their first matches of 2020. The series will be important preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup European Qualifiers, which are expected to take place in Spain in August and September.

The series is the second tri-series to be scheduled after the COVID pandemic, following the announcement that Luxembourg would host Belgium and the Czech Republic next month.
