Challenge League venues and dates announced

Dates and venues have been revealed for the remaining rounds of the Cricket World Cup Challenge League.

After a hiatus stretching back to December 2019, Challenge League Group B will return to action in June. Table-toppers Uganda will host the 2nd leg of the tournament, as confirmed by the Uganda Cricket Association. The 15-match tournament will feature Hong Kong, Jersey, Italy, Kenya, and Bermuda alongside hosts Uganda. The event will run from June 14th to 28th at the Lugogo and Kyambogo grounds in Kampala.

The third and final leg of the Challenge League B will follow shortly after, taking place in Jersey between July 28th and 10th August. The same six teams will compete in this round, where the final standings will be determined. The top team at the end of the 3rd leg will advance to the Qualifier Playoff event for the 2023 World Cup. Meanwhile, the bottom two teams will play in a tournament to stay on the 50-Over ladder.

After the first leg in Oman, Uganda lead the way with 10 points, 3 points ahead of 2nd place Hong Kong. Italy sit 3rd with 5 points, ahead of Jersey on 4 and Kenya on 3 points, whilst Bermuda foot the table with 1 point. Each teams has 10 matches still to play.

Emerging Cricket also understands the dates and venues for the two remaining legs of Challenge League A have been decided. Canada is set to be confirmed as hosts of the 2nd leg, taking place from 24th July to 7th August. The final leg returns to Malaysia, and will run between 1st and 14th December.

After the first leg in Malaysia, Canada top the League A table on 8 points, ahead of Singapore on net run rate. Qatar sit 3rd ahead of Denmark, on 6 and 4 points respectively. Malaysia are 5th, leading Vanuatu on net run rate, with both teams on two points. Like Challenge League B, all teams have 10 matches to play, and the top team will advance to the Qualifier Playoff.
