MacLeod joins Sussex for the T20 Blast

Scotland’s Calum MacLeod has signed with Sussex Sharks for the remainder of the Vitality T20 Blast.

The top-order batsman will link up with the Sussex squad for their 5 remaining games, starting with tonight’s away game against Hampshire.

Speaking to Cricket Scotland about the signing, MacLeod said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be down here in Sussex. It’s an exciting opportunity to get out there and play some cricket.”

“I’ve got some good experience having played in the Blast before and hopefully I can add some experience to the dressing room and help win some games” MacLeod added.

MacLeod has had three previous stints in county cricket, playing for Warwickshire, Durham and most recently Derbyshire. A prolific batsman for Scotland, MacLeod has also accumulated 2,000 runs in ODIs and 1,000 in T20I, including an unbeaten 140* in their historic ODI win over England in 2018.

Scotland Men’s head coach Shane Burger added: “We are very excited that Sussex have chosen Calum to represent them in the Vitality Blast. The number of Scottish players representing counties and putting in performances showed the strength in our squad and the continued development of Scottish cricket.”

MacLeod becomes the 9th Scottish player to play in County Cricket this summer, following George Munsey and Brad Wheal (Hampshire), Josh Davey (Somerset), Micheal Jones (Durham), Tom Sole (Northants), Ruaidhri Smith (Glamorgan) and Kathryn and Sarah Bryce (Lightning Women). MacLeod joins fellow associate star Delray Rawlins in the Sussex squad.
